The Plumery — Boutique Hotel & Spa Concept
Welcome to 'The Plumery', a modern boutique hotel and spa concept where I designed the entire look, feel, and guest experience. This project covers the ultimate guest journey: from online booking and check-in to the physical stay itself.
To achieve this, I merged my expertise in Art Direction, Interior Design, Photography, and UX Design into one cohesive vision. Explore this portfolio to see how the visual journey unfolds!
Art Direction
As the Art Director, I established the visual identity for The Plumery. This includes the logo and color palette shown above, as well as the material textures, mood boards, and typography detailed below.
For the logo, I chose a calm and organic presentation—instantly recognizable and rooted in the project’s defined color scheme. The defining colors are:
Deep Purple/Velvet: to add a touch of class and sophistication.
Modern Green: to evoke a sense of calm and tranquility.
Textures
The choice of material textures is crucial in a boutique hotel. It needs to instantly evoke a sense of comfort for the guest, while maintaining a modern and sophisticated aesthetic. With this in mind, I made deliberate choices for the upholstery fabrics, as well as the materials for the flooring, walls, and bathroom fixtures.
Mood boards
A mood board is where it all truly begins. At a single glance, it brings together the visual elements needed to give The Plumery the exact atmosphere I envisioned. Here, you can see the subtle interplay between the bold, sophisticated purple and the calm, organic green—and how beautifully they harmonize with the selected textures.
Typography
How written information is presented to the guest requires careful thought. Across the hotel website, booking engine, physical signage, and the in-room app, the visual language must be consistent. The chosen font is calm and easily readable, inviting the guest to engage while exuding a refined, high-end look.
Interior design
The layout and design of the interior naturally define a major part of the hotel’s signature identity. Floor plans and 3D renderings are central to a project like this—serving a dual purpose. They act as vital blueprints for the developer during the construction phase, while simultaneously captivating and convincing potential guests to book their stay.
A critical element of interior design is balancing the shift from daytime natural light to evening illumination. At The Plumery, the lighting strategy ensures a seamless transition, maintaining an atmospheric, warm, and comforting ambiance at all moments of the day.
Photography
Once the construction and design phases are complete and The Plumery is finally ready to open, it is time for photography. Capturing how the spaces look in real life provides the essential visual assets needed for marketing, the website, and promotional campaigns. Guests of The Plumery value a 'what you see is what you get' philosophy, which is why these photographs focus on a sophisticated yet highly true-to-life aesthetic.
Lobby
First impressions are everything, and the lobby sets the stage for the entire hotel experience. It is a welcoming space where guests immediately feel at ease. Striking visuals of the lobby ensure that The Plumery instantly stands out on booking channels and digital platforms.

Spa
In a high-end hotel where relaxation is a core element of the stay, a spa is an absolute necessity. Moving away from the standard, rectangular blue pool, this space features a wellness pool integrated with natural elements, stone textures, and lush greenery to create an organic oasis.
Outside - inside
While the outside world differs from the experience within, a seamless transition between the hotel’s exterior and interior style elevates the entire project. For The Plumery, I designed natural stone arched structures to bridge this gap, ensuring the building's facade reflects the refined atmosphere found inside.
Coffee (break)
To truly communicate the ambiance of a hotel, focusing on the details is key. Lifestyle elements like accessories, food, and beverages offer the perfect opportunity to capture those quiet, atmospheric moments that define the overall guest experience.
Ux design
Within the context of The Plumery, UX design focuses on how potential and future guests interact with the digital touchpoints during their journey. My role is to ensure that booking a stay is completely intuitive, checking in is effortless, and that guests can seamlessly utilize the modern digital amenities available throughout their entire visit.
Featured above is the project brief I designed to optimize the digital experience for our hotel guests. It breaks down the user personas, the challenges and obstacles they encounter, and the strategic solutions required to overcome them.
Julian’s journey
Now, let’s look at the concrete visuals. This section illustrates the user flow as a potential guest, Julian, navigates through the hotel previews on the website, explores the room layouts, arrives at the in-room tablet's welcome screen, and interacts with the interface to customize the room's lighting.
The in-room tablet
In addition to adjusting the lighting, the in-room tablet includes multiple functionalities to enhance the guest experience, from ordering amenities to prompting a coffee delivery. The ultimate goal is to provide a low-barrier, highly intuitive interface that allows guests to seamlessly navigate their entire stay.
